DESTINY IN SCRIPTURE

Psalms 40:7 KJV
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.

The Scriptures were written for every person and contain truths and lessons that will lead every man into his individual, divinely-ordained destiny (1Cor. 10:6).

There is a three-stage destiny for every man (Rev. 22:19):

– His part in the Book of Life: get born-again and go to heaven (Jn. 3:3).

– His part in the Holy City: get born-again and baptized in the Holy Spirit and so be enabled to do great supernatural works (Mk. 16:17-18) for God.

– His part in the things written in the Bible: experience the perfection and fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:12-15).

It is the will of God that we fulfill all the three stages of our destiny.

However, our divine destiny is hidden and scattered in Scripture, and it is so easy to misunderstand it and even lose part of our destiny (Matt. 22:29; 2Jn. 1:8).

That is why we need the revelation of the Holy Spirit to see, walk in and so fulfill our destiny (1Cor. 2:7, 9-10). We are all called to be conformed to the image of Christ: having the same divine nature and character of Christ in our souls: wills, minds, emotions and bodies.

But each person has unique individual details of how God will bring us into and apply this perfect image of Christ in our individual lives.

So how do we consciously and intelligently cooperate with the Holy Spirit to see and fulfill our divine destiny hidden in Scripture?

Habitual praying in the Spirit and daily Bible reading with an honest and humble heart, through which the Holy Spirit will reveal to you your individual destiny, and give you the wisdom, ability and power to fulfill it (2Tim. 3:16-17; 2Pet. 1:19-21).

We are to copy the good parts of the accounts of the lives of many people in the scriptures and avoid the failures (Heb. 6:12). For example; Enoch, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Ruth, David, Elisha, Esther, Daniel, Paul and John: these patriarchs and the Lord Jesus Christ have seen, or experienced, the promised land of the fulfillment of divine destiny in their lives. By copying their examples and avoiding their errors, we too can fulfill the fullness of our divine destinies.
