DEVELOPING GREAT FAITH

Matthew 8:11 KJV
When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

In Matthew 8:5-11, the Lord Jesus tells us that the Roman centurion demonstrated great faith: greater than any faith that was demonstrated in the whole of Israel at that time!

Why did the Lord Jesus say his faith was great?

His faith was great because the centurion had an understanding of spiritual realities from natural things. He understood that, just as he had authority over the soldiers under his command, the Lord Jesus had authority over sickness and evil spirits and they would obey His commands.

So, to develop great faith, we must have an understanding of spiritual realities by understanding corresponding physical realities (Rom. 1:20). Put simply, you understand the invisible by understanding the corresponding visible.

This comes only by revelation from the Holy Spirit.
To get revelation and so have great faith we need to:

1. Have and maintain daily, an attitude of love and humility (Prov. 11:2). The degree and clarity of the revelation and wisdom we receive is proportional to the degree to which we are walking in humility and love.

2. Read the Scripture as a daily habit (2Tim. 3:15-17). God’s Word brings thoughts from heaven into our minds, causing our minds and souls to prosper (3Jn. 2), so His will can be accomplished in our lives.

3. Pray for revelation, wisdom and understanding daily as a habit (Eph. 1:17).

4. Pray frequently and fervently in tongues (1Cor. 2:7) so the Holy Spirit will reveal through the Scripture, by ‘pasting’ the understanding of the picture or meaning of what we are saying in our minds.

The majority of the Church today has little faith: faith only for material and physical blessings.

However, now, in this third day, God wants us to develop great faith: faith that will save our souls (1Pet. 1.9) and bring us into the perfection and fulness of Christ (Eph. 4.13).

So, if you do these things, you will develop great faith and be a part of the great people that will form Joel’s Army in these last days (Joel 2:2).

The great majority of people like the centurion, as of now, are not yet in the Church (i.e. spiritual Israel), but will be brought into the Kingdom by the revival of the manifestation of the Sons of God, to enjoy the feast of the wisdom of God (Isa. 25:6-7).
