EXCEEDINGLY GROWING FAITH
2Thessalonians 1:3 (NKJV)
“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other.”
Faith and love grow together, because walking in love is the works, or corresponding action of faith (Jam. 2:17-18).
How will this take place?
1). Faith comes by hearing the Word (Rom. 10:17).
2). Faith grows by watching and praying with thanksgiving (Rom. 4:17-21).
We watch by frequently acknowledging God in our thoughts with thanksgiving throughout the day. This enables us to see opportunities to put the Rhema Word on the love and character of God that we have been hearing, into practice.
This must be supported, however, with prayer at two levels.
First we pray daily in the Spirit with travail early in the morning, to generate the power to enforce God’s will over our circumstances that day (Eph. 6:18).
Secondly, we pray at least once every six hours to wash our feet
(Deut. 6:7).
How then do we wash each other’s feet? By:
a. Confessing and forgiving the sins of ourselves and those connected with us and those around us. This cleanses our sins by the blood of Jesus, as Jesus gave us authority to forgive sins (1Jn. 1:7-10; Jn 20:22-23).
b. Asking God to give life to them: Yes, life is that same spiritual substance that got us born again, but it is also the fuel that powers our daily Christian lives. We therefore receive it, usually unconsciously, daily as we fellowship with the Lord and we expend it as we think, speak and act out our day.
We can and should also receive and give it consciously by faith, as part of the process of washing our feet (1Jn. 5:16).
c. Praying for ourselves and others in tongues to edify and to keep ourselves and them in the love of God (Jude 20-21).
3). As we get better and better at walking with God using the biblical principles outlined above, your faith grows more and more fruitful and becomes ever more established by the manifestation of the answers to prayer, and so becomes a stepping-stone to higher levels of faith (Heb. 6:11-12; Heb. 10:35-36).
Hebrews 6:11-12 MKJV
And we desire that each one of you show the same eagerness to the full assurance of hope to the end, that you be not slothful, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Romans 1:17 AMP
For in the Gospel a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith]. As it is written, The man who through faith is just and upright shall live and shall live by faith. [Hab. 2:4.]
