DECEMBER 12

FOLLOWING ELIJAH

2 Kings 2:1-15KJV
Verse 9. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

In this third day there will be a great manifestation of the glory and judgement of God in the Church.
Before this happens however, God has released an end-time, prophetic Elijah ministry to prepare the Church for this great outpouring by turning the hearts of God’s people to the fear of God (Mal. 4:5-6).

The time has come for this Elijah ministry itself to be translated “to heaven” and begin to operate with heavenly authority and power, like the Lord Jesus did when He was on the earth (Jn. 3:12-13).

For those whose hearts have been turned, there remains another task: to follow Elijah and receive the double portion (the Spirit without measure: Jn. 3:34; Isa. 8:18).

How do we recognize the Elijahs?
• By the fruit of the Spirit in their lives, evidenced by their ability to rightly divide the Word of God (2 Tim. 2:15).
• The fruit of humility and lowliness in their lives, which gives them access to the wisdom of God (Prov. 11:2).
• They will not be title and money-seekers nor men-pleasers (Matt. 23: 1-12).

We follow the Elijah ministry by
• Having an attitude of reverence and love toward them.
• Obeying the instructions of the Word of God they preach and teach.
• Copying or imitating their godly conduct.

Elisha relentlessly followed Elijah from Gilgal to beyond Jordan to receive the double portion:

Gilgal represents the place of the second circumcision. It is a place in which the mind has been made up to live no longer to the lusts of men, but to the will of God (1 Pet. 4:1-2).

Bethel is where we begin to have a clear comprehension of God’s intentions for His house to be a perfect Church, both individually and corporately (Gen.28:17-19; Col.1:28).

Jericho represents the place of fragrance or spiritual prosperity. Here we receive more revelation of perfection, with greater clarity of instruction on how to attain it.

Jordan represents the place of using the revelation received to actually die to self (the lusts of the flesh, of the eyes and the pride of life) in daily conduct, based on the decision made at Gilgal (Luk.9:23).

After Jordan, Elijah was taken to heaven by a whirlwind, symbolic of God’s judgement in the Church that will separate the righteous from the wicked (Jer. 30: 23-24; Mal. 3:15-4:2).

We are now in the season in which this whirlwind is about to hit the Elijah ministry, taking them to heaven, causing them to operate as overcomers from thrones in heaven, and imparting to them the Spirit without measure that was on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rev. 3:21).

The Elishas who see this whirlwind and how it translates Elijah to heaven will partake of the same anointing. Together, this transformed company will do great signs and wonders that will turn the world upside down (Act. 17:6).
