FOLLOWING JOSEPH TO THE THRONE
Hebrews 6:11-12 NIV
We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
Christ is not on the earth today, but the Scripture still instructs us to follow Him. We do this by following those who have followed the principles of the Christ life and have inherited the rewards like Joseph (1Cor. 11:1; Heb. 6:12).
Joseph had a heart attitude of being faithful to his father (his spiritual authority), and so to God, even when it attracted the displeasure of his brethren, and in the temptation by Potiphar’s wife.
We need to have this same attitude today: to be faithful to God and those in spiritual authority (Heb. 13:7) even when it will attract persecution, criticism and rejection from other Christian brethren.
Joseph, just as Moses 400 years later, was seeing Him that is invisible (Hebrews 11:27). He saw beyond Potiphar, the temporal pleasure his wife was offering and stayed faithful to God (Gen. 39:8-9).
Joseph could only have done this by keeping spiritual law. He kept God’s Word in his heart and mouth, so he was releasing sufficient spiritual power to see God by revelation and to be a doer of God’s Word and not a hearer only (Deut. 30:11-14).
We are to do the same today by keeping the law of love by the Blood, the Word and the Spirit, to perfect God’s love in your heart and conduct (1Jn. 5:5-6).
By doing this, you will see God by revelation and stay faithful to Him, even if it means suffering for a while, like Joseph did by going to jail.(Eph. 1:17-18; Gen. 39:20).
We see Joseph again seeing God behind his brothers’ wickedness to him in selling him into slavery in Egypt . By doing this, he was able to love and bless them even though they did not deserve it, demonstrating divine love even in the Old Testament (Matt. 5:44-45).
So, to follow Joseph and fulfil the fullness of your divine destiny, you must develop and perfect the love of God in your life, so that you genuinely pray for and bless your enemies, especially when they do not deserve it!
