OVERCOMING DISHONESTY, UNBELIEF, DISOBEDIENCE, AND REBELLION
Jeremiah 17:9 AMP The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?
Dishonesty: not accepting truth in your heart, causes a withdrawal of God’s light from the heart. This then leads to an obscuring of the invisible spiritual realities of God’s existence and power: which is unbelief (Rom. 1:18-20).
This attitude of dishonesty and unbelief, disconnects man from God’s life and so light, causing darkness. Consequently, man loses the ABILITY: wisdom and strength, to obey God which leads to disobedience (Rom. 1:20-22).
It is this attitude of heart that has led to the terrible condition of the natural human heart (Jer. 17:9).
A Christian can deteriorate from being honest and humble in heart to becoming rebellious and stubborn, like Saul, IF he does not CONTINUE to exercise honesty and humility of heart (1Sam. 15:17, 22-23).
The good news is that God knows man’s heart condition, and CAN CHANGE this terrible condition of man’s heart (Ezek. 36:26-27)!
The condition can be reversed and afterwards avoided by the CONSTANT exercise of honesty of heart:-
In the confession of sins for regular cleansing by the blood of Jesus (1Jn. 1:7-10);
In receiving the life of God (Prov. 4:20-22);
In the speaking and meditation of God’s Word (Josh 1:8);
In praying in the Spirit (Jude 1:20).

Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn.
