PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD

OLUBI JOHNSON

Matthew 3:3 KJV
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

God is declaring unto His people to prepare a way in the wilderness, so the glory of God can be manifested and seen by all flesh. He is making this call through a prophetic (voice ministry) typified by John the Baptist (Isa.40:3-5).

1). The wilderness is symbolic of our souls in a state of spiritual barrenness:
– Will: stubborn and rebellious not tempered with humility.
– Mind: not enlightened by revelation knowledge (2Cor. 4:6; Eph.1:17-18),
– Emotions: not controlled by the power of the fruit of the Spirit.
2). The way is divine love perfected in our hearts (1Cor. 12:31; 14:1). The more excellent way of love is supposed to lead us to Zion (Ps. 84:5).
3). Zion is the Church in the perfection and the fulness of Christ, without spot, blemish or wrinkle (Eph.5:27).

The church under a wrong leadership, has forsaken the highway to Zion for the byways (Judg.5:6-7). There is an over emphasis on prosperity, healing, deliverance, and a stubborn refusal to go beyond the foundational principles of Christ that cannot lead to Zion but to perishing in the wilderness (1Cor. 10:5).

But, God is removing this Saul/Shamgar (strange children) leadership. He is raising up a new leadership like David (an apostolic and prophetic ministry) who will prepare the highway to Zion through their teaching on perfecting the love of God (1 Jn.2:5).

Now, we must prepare the way of the Lord, a highway unto Zion, because the glory will be manifest only in Zion (Ps. 102:16). We prepare the way of the Lord as typified in Isa. 40:4-5.

(1) Valleys represents low self-esteem, condemnation and discouragement. The antidote is revelation of our rights in God through the frequent cleansing by the blood and growth in divine love (Eph. 1:6,7).

(2) Mountains and hills represents pride and arrogance made low by daily walking in the fear of God by cultivating honesty and humility of heart (1Pet. 5:5-7).

(3) Crooked places are a lack of revelation knowledge straightened by praying daily for the spirit of wisdom and revelation (Eph. 1:17,18).

(4) The rough places represent unbelief, smoothened by obeying the distilled instructions of wisdom of fathers (The How of the How (Pro. 4:1,13).
