REAPING MERCY
Jude 21 NKJV
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
The mercy of God is His compassion: the capacity to feel our infirmities, weaknesses and limitations.
Psalms 145:9 NKJV
The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.
This causes Him to release a measure of eternal life through the air upon our spirits, souls, bodies and circumstances, to help us overcome the infirmity, weakness or limitation.
The Scripture speaks of the mercies of God in plural, meaning the several measures of the life of God released upon us, as a result of His mercies is given to us every new day (Lam. 3:22-23)!
It is the mercy of God that enables us to overcome weaknesses and limitations, especially in difficult or seemingly impossible situations (Rom. 9:16; Lk. 22:41-46).
Also, it is the mercy of God that preserves us from destruction when we sin, or fail in operation of spiritual laws that ordinarily would have led to our destruction (Lam. 3:22).
This preservation causes us to remain in the Christian race, rather than for our race to be terminated prematurely by Satan, hindering us from fulfilling the fulness of our destiny (2Sam. 12:13-14).
Now, how do you reap mercy?
– Sow in righteousness by walking in right-standing and right-doing.
Hosea 10:12 NKJV
Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy;
We walk in rightstanding by cleansing our hearts with the blood of Jesus, restoring fellowship (rightstanding) with God after having sinned.
We walk in rightdoing and release the power of godliness by receiving the life of God by faith, using Scriptures that promise us life. Also, we confess Scriptures that promise us the love or character of God.
We then release the power of the Holy Spirit residing in the abundance of the life of God in our hearts, by praying in the Spirit.
– The measure you receive also depends on the degree of the integrity of your heart. The quicker you are to confess and repent of your sins, the greater the mercy you will receive (Pro. 28:13), and so the less the effect of God’s judgement of the sin in your life (Jam. 2:13).
Operating diligently in both mercy, truth or grace will restore the glory of God that was lost because of sin (Psa. 85:7-9).
Remember; the measure of mercy you reap is dependent on the measure of righteousness you sow:
2Corinthians 9:6,10 NKJV
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness?
– The measure of mercy you show to others when it is in your power to do so, by acts of kindness, forgiveness, generosity and regular prayers, also determines the measure of mercy God releases to you when you need it.
One sure way of showing mercy to people is by praying regularly in the Spirit with all types of prayer (Eph. 6:18). When you do this, God exercises His sovereignty through you, releasing life into the air and upon the lives of men to show them mercy, and so you become a vessel of mercy!
Matthew 5:7 NKJV
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
