SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES
1Peter 1:10-11 KJV: Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you… when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
We are instructed to search the scriptures diligently daily to find the knowledge of God and experience His glory hidden in the Word (Acts 17:11). The scriptures reveal God’s character, power and His plan of redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are rules for the interpretation and application of scripture. This is found in Ja.3:17 and must be:
1. Pure: must not contradict other scriptures (Ps. 12:6).
2. Must not contradict God’s character of loving-kindness, righteousness and justice (Jer. 9:24).
As we search the scriptures daily and diligently, the Holy Spirit will show us the symbolic codes that apply to our lives. Including the treasures of wisdom and knowledge He wants to give us and then enable us to experience their physical reality.
How then do we search the scriptures;
1. By balanced Bible reading. About 7-13 verses each from the Old Testament, New Testament, Proverbs, Psalms and Gospels daily (Is. 28:13).
2. Praying in the Spirit with tongues and travail: This causes you to speak divine mysteries. The ‘pictures’ or thoughts of which the Holy Spirit will put into your mind and then explain to you using the types and shadows in the scripture (1Cor.2:7, 14:2).
