THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS
OLUBI JOHNSON
John 19:36 KJV
For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
It was the angels that kept them from breaking any of the bones of the Lord to ensure the scriptures were fulfilled.
Angels are spiritual servants, created by God to serve God and us who are heirs of the salvation in Christ Jesus (Heb. 1:14 AMP).
Angels are able to serve us because they can operate in both the spiritual and physical worlds simultaneously.
We see this when an angel appeared to the Lord Jesus at Gethsemane and strengthened Him both spiritually and physically, when He was under severe spiritual and physical pressure (Lk. 22:43-44).
The power of God released through these invisible angels is what caused those who came to arrest the Lord Jesus (Matt. 26:53) to fall down at first before the Lord allowed Himself to be arrested (Jn. 18:3-6).
There are different kinds of angels:
1. Angels with wings: called cherubim and seraphim (Ezek. 10:7-8; Isa. 6:2).
2. Angels without wings that look just like men (Heb. 13:2; Gen. 19:1-16).
3. Angels of God’s presence (Isa. 63:9): angels that look like God and so are a projection of His Presence, like the angel of the Lord Jesus that John saw in the book of Revelation (Rev.1:1,13).
God uses angels to serve Him and us. Angels serve us in;
1. Giving us skill and understanding through our thoughts (Dan. 9:22-23).
2. Strengthening and protecting our physical bodies (Dan. 10:8-11; Gen. 19:1-3, 10-11).
One example of such are the angels that struck the Syrian army that came to arrest Elisha with temporary blindness (2Kin. 6:15-23).
3. Providing for us financially and materially by supernaturally causing men to give to and serve us (Exo. 23:20; Psa. 34:7-10). Notice it is because the angels camp around those that fear the Lord that they do not lack any good thing!
Now, the angels are authorized and empowered to serve us optimally as God intends through words in agreement with God’s Word that we speak when we pray in the Spirit with all kinds of prayer (Psa. 103:20; Eph. 6:18).
It is the power of God we release in prayer that the angels use to manipulate men and create circumstances to enforce the will of God on the earth (Dan. 10:12-13).
We are not to pray to angels or to seek to see them physically: doing this can lead us to being deceived by Satan or fallen angels (2Cor. 11:14).
