Special exhortation: The Power and Authority of The Church

By mutual agreement, God the Father became the custodian of the final Authority of the God-head, the Lord Jesus became the propitiation for our sins, reconciling us back to God after Adam’s fall and the Lord Holy Spirit became the resident Lord on earth, the executor and enforcer of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus and the will of the Father; our Helper, Comforter and Counsellor.

What is the Role of Unity in the Dunamis and Exousia of the Ecclesia? In other words in the Power and Authority of God’s Assembly (First Born Church)?

Everything! Unity is everything! Brethren, this cannot be over emphasised. Unity is everything! It is the state of being joined to make a composite whole. In Latin, the root word for unity is “unitatem” which means oneness, sameness and agreement. God’s assembly is a composite whole, it is indivisible, it is non denominational, it has no walls, it is composed of several separate joints working together in oneness, in sameness, in consent, in agreement.

Unity is the fundamental unique power of the God-Head and it must become the fundamental power of the Ecclesia that is, the body of Christ for it to experience the fullness of God’s Power (Dunamis) and fullness of God’s authority (Exousia) – which is ours, not tomorrow but today even Now! Now! Now!

God’s word in Genesis 11:1, 4 speaks concerning unregenerate men –

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

And they said, Go to, let us build us (the same way God said ‘ let us make man in our image’) a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

When God hears the words ‘let us’ signifying mutual agreement, it always catches his attention. So in verses 5 & 6

And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

And the Lord said ”Behold, they are ONE people, and they have ONE language and this they begin to do that is to build a city (a tower) whose top reaches the heavens to make a name for themselves.

God’s next response underscores the unstoppable power of Unity

Now, Nothing! Nothing they can imagine or purpose to do will be restrained, withheld or impossible for them.

This was God – God The Father, God The Lord Jesus and God The Holy Spirit, speaking about unregenerate men, men in a fallen state, not redeemed, not members of the Ecclesia, the assembly of the Lord, his Church, who are blood-bought, washed, saved, born again by grace!

We, the present day church by the sacrifice and gift of Jesus have access to all the power of the God-head, we are blood-bought, blood-washed, saved by grace and we have eternity living within us, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!

Let us pause and think on this as becometh Christians.

Verse 7 provides the antidote, the only antidote to the ‘unstoppable’ power of Unity

God said “Let us go down and confound (mix up and confuse) their language that they may not understand each other, one another’s speech.”

So the Lord scattered them abroad, from there all over the world and they left off, quit building the city.

Brethren, the devil has no new tricks. He saw it done before and so he uses God’s method against Him, against the body. This is why the devil comes to us and tries to confound our language.

So what must we do? In this day and hour that is called NOW!

Eph 4: 3, 2
We must endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. As the Ecclesia of the Lord we must learn meekness and lowliness so keeping unity with all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.

Eph 4: 4-6
Yes! Yes! this is what we must do because there is only ONE body, there is only ONE spirit, even as we are called in ONE hope of ONE calling, our Lord is ONE, our faith is ONE, our baptism is ONE, our God and our Father of all is ONE who is above all and through all and in all.

As in Unity lies the strength of the God Head so in unity, oneness, agreement, lies our strength.

The Bible in Ephesians 4:13 (MSG) says
until we’re all moving rhythmically… (‘… marching, everyone on his own way ….’ we do not break rank, neither do we thrust one another. Every man walks in his own path, Joel 2:7), easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ!

We need each other

Eph 4:16
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

We are fitly joined together, compacted, a composite whole, made up of different parts. I am different, you are different and we all individually supply something that no one else can. As we, united, supply our part we make an increase of the Ecclesia and we edify one another in love.

Psalm 133: 1-3
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. Hallelujah
