THE SWEET ODOURS OF ESTHER
Revelation 5:8 NKJV
Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Odours or incense are symbolic of our prayers (Ps.141:2).
The sweet odours of Esther prophetically and symbolically, speak of the kind of prayers the third day Church growing into the perfection and fulness of Christ will be praying onwards.
Esther 2:12 KJV: Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women).
These prayers are ‘sweet’ because of the fresh and clearer revelation of the mercy of God that is superimposed upon the prayers, causing us to triumph always (2Cor. 2:14).
An excellent example of this is shown in the mercy of God released through the ministry of angels on the prayers of the Lord Jesus in Gethsemane, that caused Him to triumph in His obedience to God to go to the cross (Lk. 22:41-46).
In this year and onwards, therefore, we should always pray with a fresh revelation of the mercy of God being superimposed on our prayers, through the ministry of angels to cause us to triumph always, so making all our prayers ‘the sweet odours of Esther’.
This will enable the Zion Church to become a glorious Church, purified by the washing of the water of the Word, to be presented before the Lord in the redemption of our physical bodies, as Esther was prepared and purified to be presented before King Ahasuerus (Eph. 5:26-27)!
