UNDERSTANDING YOUR HEAVENLY TREASURE

OLUBI JOHNSON

Matthew 6:19-21 ESV
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The degree to which a Christian’s soul is prosperous: how humble (Phil. 2:8) the will is, how enlightened the mind is with revelation knowledge (2Cor. 4:6), and how dominated the emotions are with the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22), determine how much of that 100-fold return he can withdraw into the earth to meet his needs and desires (3Jn. 1:2).

Firstly, we make sure we give our tithes promptly, completely, regularly and cheerfully, so that we can have constant access to our heavenly account: ‘keep the windows of heaven open’ (Mal. 3:10-12).

If you should ever stop tithing (paying your tithe), your heavenly account will be temporarily suspended: ‘the windows of heaven will be closed’; but once you repent and start tithing again, the ‘windows of heaven’ will be reopened!

Secondly, we draw on some (depending on how much our souls are prospering), of this 100-fold return through prayer and walking in the Spirit, by keeping God’s commandments of life and love and doing things pleasing in His sight, by the power of the Holy Spirit (1Jn. 3:22-23 ).

As we do this, the life of God and the power of the Holy Spirit that is released into the souls, bodies and circumstances of ourselves and the people in our spheres of influence, will cause the money and/or material things we need or desire, according to the will of God, to come into physical manifestation.

Even those who ordinarily would be our enemies or oppose us will be influenced by God’s power to bless us, like God used Ahasuerus and Haman to bless Mordecai (Prov. 16:7; Est. 6:1-11).

It is vital to note that the same spiritual power you generate and release by keeping the commandments of life and love, and frequently acknowledging the Lord for mercy and praying in tongues to please God, is what God uses to make your enemies, the carnal minds (Rom. 8:7) of men, to be at peace with you, and to be used by God to bless you!
